“If he’s good enough for you, he’s good enough for me. If he scores another few, then I’ll be Muslim too.” Ardent soccer fans will likely recognize who we’re talking about. For those unaware, ladies and gentlemen, this was a chant inspired by Dodgy’s Good Enough and proudly sung by Liverpool fans for none other than Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian King of Anfield, Salah, is regarded as one of the most sought-after wingers in the world. While even an entire day would not suffice to discuss his soccer prowess, today we are intrigued to explore a lesser-known side of his life. Little is known about the woman who stands as one of the pillars of his journey—his wife, Magi Salah—and whether they have a family as well.

Magi Mohammed Sadiq, now addressed as Magi Salah, was born in Nagrig, Basyoun, Egypt, in 1995, also the exact place where Mo Salah was born and raised. Born into a family of educators, Magi’s parents were teachers at Mohammed Eyad Al Tantawi School in Nagrig. She used to attend the same school, suggesting her father and mother’s strong influence of discipline on the 30-year-old as she decided to become a successful biotechnologist.

She had pursued this degree at Alexandria University after her necessary schooling. Notably, Magi wasn’t raised alone and has three siblings: her twin sister, Mohab, and two others, Mahy and Miriam. While little is known about their early life and current profession, all the siblings maintain a good relationship with each other.

Some of you may or may not have guessed this one but yes, Magi and Mo Salah are childhood lovers. The former AS Roma winger met his better half in the same school that they used to attend together. A teenage friendship eventually blossomed into a relationship, with the two tying the knot in December 2013 via a small Islamic ceremony held in their hometown.

At that time, Salah’s career had already begun, growing up in Egypt’s El Mokawloon to play for FC Basel before making prolific moves to Chelsea, Fiorentina, AS Roma, and finally Liverpool. Meanwhile, we now move forward to Magi and Mo Salah’s very own family.

Unlike other soccer WAGs, Magi likes to maintain a low profile but back in Egypt, she is very famous for doing philanthropic work. She, along with Salah, has supported initiatives like building schools, hospitals, and providing access to clean water facilities, paying back to the very community that they grew up in.
