Goalkeeper Ederson’s glittering trophy cabinet is something that would even make the world’s best envious. Since Pep Guardiola brought him to Manchester City from Benfica, he has won every major honor with the club. While he continues to dominate on the pitch, he secured his greatest victory off it years ago, meeting his wife way before rising to become one of the world’s top goalkeepers.
Born in Osasco, São Paulo, Ederson Santana de Moraes began his football journey in 2008 with São Paulo FC before moving to Portugal as a teenager to pursue his dreams. In 2013, at just 20 years old, he met Lais Moraes, and their love story quickly unfolded. The couple tied the knot a year later, in 2014. However, for Lais, it wasn’t love at first sight.

While it may look like a typical fairy tale, Lais openly shared details in one of her old posts. “It was not love at first sight, I never imagined that it would be you… who would have the keys of my heart. That would become so important to me, that I would live with so many beautiful things by my side and would be part of my story.” – she captioned.
When Ederson met Lais in 2013, he was playing for Rio Ave, a club based in her hometown of Vila do Conde. The couple later moved to Lisbon after Ederson returned to Benfica and then to Manchester following his $43 million transfer to Manchester City. Since moving to England, Ederson and his family have blossomed.

Things aren’t going well for Ederson, as his Manchester City side has not won a match in their last 12 games. According to journalist Gianluigi Longari, the Brazilian has agreed to personal terms with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. This comes amid discussions that backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega may get more playing time as the first-choice keeper, thanks to his recent performances.
With doubts surrounding whether this will be City’s year again, it’s uncertain if we’ll see Ederson and his family leave rainy England for sunny Saudi Arabia. With the January transfer window fast approaching, things are sure to get interesting.
