Family and Background

Cavan Sullivan was born in 2009 to a family based in Philadephia. It’s safe to say that sporting talent runs in the family. His older brother Quinn plays for Philadelphia Union and the United States U-20 team. Also, his 15-year-old twin brothers, Ronan and Declan also play soccer, though their games may not be as polished. Cavan’s father, Brendan Sullivan was also quite passionate about soccer. But per Brendan, it was Cavan Sullivan’s grandfather Larry to whom the family owes their love for the beautiful game.

Larry Sullivan, Baseball was the primary sport and soccer was second. However, one trip to Vietnam changed it all. Someone shot Larry in the hand and he lost 3 of his fingers. This meant the end of his Baseball career and as a result, he just immersed himself in soccer. And the subsequent generations too acquired this love for the game.

Union II coach Marlon LeBlanc said that the starlet would be fully integrated into the side after the GA Cup (youth tournament) from March to April. However, with his transfer to Manchester City almost finalized, the coaches wouldn’t have much time to work with him.

Former USMNT star Taylor Twellman has described Cavan as the ‘the best 14-year-old in the world’. Furthermore, he even added that Cavan could be an asset to Union’s first team in the MLS.
