For the next 5 years, the couple remained in a committed relationship before tying the knot in 2018. For Kimmich, Lina has always been a major support system. The joy didn’t stop as Joshua Kimmich and his wife had their 3rd and 4th child in 2022 and 2024, respectively. However, the names of the kids are still a mystery. Although their personal life grew more joyful, Lina had to make some hard sacrifices.

The reason why Lina Mayer took a back-step in her volleyball career

Lina Mayer was raised in Rottweil, Germany to Swedish parents. From early on, she was academically proficient and studied law after high school. However, her passion for volleyball shone through and she eventually decided to make a career in the sport. Similar to Joshua Kimmich, Lina’s rise to the top was quick. But, the birth of her baby boy in 2019 changed things entirely. Amid her husband’s tight schedule, there was a need for a housekeeper to take care of the kids. Consequently, Lina took on the challenge and has fulfilled her role gracefully.

Lina’s partnership with Joshua Kimmich has also led to some noble causes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple, with Leon Goretzka, organized the ‘We kick Corona’ campaign. The move was aimed at supporting charity and medical organizations during the time.
