Considering Neymar’s wealth acquired over the years, it’s no surprise that he is able to afford such high-end watches. However, Julio Gomes, an author at UOL has been critical of the Brazilian for this aspect. He believes that Neymar’s fiscal value has been overvalued for a long time.
Brazilian superstar faces scathing criticism for a high-profile move to Al-Hilal
Ever since Neymar became a big name in the soccer world, the Brazilian has always managed to stay in the news. Be it his on-field performances or his gigantic transfer prices, the ex-Barcelona star attracts money wherever he is. However, some believe that he is not worth the money but surely has a lot of talent. His performances and injury record don’t justify the money invested in him by clubs. Hence Neymar is bought by clubs today only for his star value claimed UOL author Julio Gomes.
“Why will Neymar end up in the Saudi League? Essentially, because nobody wants him. Or there are those who do because the guy is a star, but the price to be paid is not worth the trouble. It’s a question of cost-benefit. Neymar is a product that costs more than it is worth“, said Gomes in his article. While the criticism is a bit too far, Neymar in his PSG stint at least has not lived up to his expectations. With reports of Saudi getting superstars for building a culture, Gomes’ claims might be worth its salt.
