The season hasn’t started well for Wrexham AFC. Fortunately, it’s not their League One campaign where the team is in trouble. The Red Dragons competed in TST, a 7vs 7 association tournament in the United States. They kickstarted their campaign with a  4-2 defeat against Switzerland-based club FC Roha. While the Red Dragons were gracious in defeat, their opponents were not, and proceeded to taunt the Wrexham players!

A clip has emerged on X, where the FC Roha goalkeeper can be seen ridiculing his opponents. The goalkeeper walked up to the camera and said, “Where is Wrexham. Vamos” and proceeded to scream in the delight of victory. It seems the FC Roha man got a little excited considering the result against high-profile opponents. Yet, it is worth keeping in mind that some of those who donned their cleats were not even Wrexham players!

Shaun Harvey was Wrexham’s manager for the TST match. Some of the notable players in the Wrexham squad include Mark Howard and David Jones, former Arsenal and Manchester United players, respectively. With 48 teams competing in the tournament, the Red Dragons would be hoping to recover from the defeat soon. Else, they will have to bid farewell to the $1 million cash prize.

On top of this, Wrexham’s number one side is also set to fly to the United States soon. This trip is also part of Ryan Reynolds’ strategy to increase the club’s visibility in the States. A good run in the US will do wonders for Phil Parkinson’s side ahead of a grueling season. Unfortunately, the Red Dragons have received bad news even before playing a single match!

As of now, there is no update on the estimated recovery period for the 35-year-old. But, it’s pretty much certain that he won’t be able to train at 100% anytime soon. It remains to be seen how Wrexham manager Parkinson approaches the situation. Having played 37 games last season, the winger is an important player in the coach’s plans. With just a month to go, supporters are hopeful that McClean could make it in time for the tour. One will need to wait and watch to see if their wishes will come true.
