Cristiano Ronaldo had a torrid game against the fierce rivals Al Ittihad on Thursday. The host supporters greeted the Portuguese with Messi chants on his arrival. The chants kept going before the game when Al Nassr players were warming up and during the game. Ronaldo’s frustration can also be clearly seen amidst the loss and chants as a video surfaced on Twitter, where he can be seen kicking the bottles after the game. To add misery to the Portuguese, Al Ittihad themselves trolled the player after the game.

Al Nassr traveled to Al Ittihad for a crucial game in the context of the Saudi Pro League title. Al Nassr was at the top of the table with 46 points, and Ittihad was in second place, with 44 points. Romarinho’s 80th-minute strike ensured Ittihad got all three points from the game. That leaves Ittihad on top of the table with a slender one-point lead.

Al-Ittihad trolls Cristiano Ronaldo after the game

Cristiano Ronaldo blanked in the second consecutive game after scoring eight goals in three games of the Saudi Pro League. Al Nassr was banking on the Portuguese to inspire the club to get all three points from the crucial game. However, Ronaldo wasn’t able to have a single shot on target during the game.

Just like the fans, Al Ittihad did not miss the opportunity to troll the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. They posted a video of their player tackling Ronaldo in the 83rd minute. The Ittihad player won the tackle cleanly and negated the threat of the former Manchester United superstar. Ittihad captioned the video with “Where Is Ronaldo?” mocking the Al Nassr talisman for his uninspiring performance.

Ittihad’s win has opened the title race in the Saudi league. It is set to go down the wire with ten game weeks to go. Ittihad will hope to continue their good run with a one-point lead over rivals Al Nassr.

Messi has a substantial offer from MLS club Inter Miami on the table, with PSG also keen to renew the contract. Only time will tell where Messi will play next season. Messi, who is also a brand ambassador of Saudi Tourism, can be a great addition to the Saudi league. It will also reignite the Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi rivalry again.
