The new year has started on a high note for Paris Saint-Germain. Following the Trophee des Champions victory, the club progressed through the round of 64 of the French Cup after clinching a 9-0 victory against Revel last night. But the spotlight has shifted from the result towards Kylian Mbappe, who was the least expected candidate to start the game. Amidst the debate, Parisian boss Luis Enrique insists the Frenchman decided for himself to play as others ‘don’t have much to say.’
PSG were expected to start their reserve team for a match that was merely a formality. Yet, the likes of Marco Asensio, Carlos Soler, and Gonçalo Ramos started. As for Mbappe, it was a decision that Enrique didn’t take. Instead, the winger deliberately asked the former Barcelona boss to take him to the Stade Pierre-Fabre. Speaking after the match, Enrique said, “Kylian wanted to play and when Kylian wants to play… the rest of us don’t have much to say. You just have to see him play in that case,” he commented.
Mbappe’s presence was no less than a nightmare for US Revel, as the 24-year-old scored a hattrick, with two goals coming in the first half. One of Revel’s defenders scored an own goal, with Asensio adding another just before halftime to make it 0-4.

In the second half, Goncalo Ramos opened his account with a penalty, with Randal Kolo Muani firing a brace and Cher Ndour scoring his first goal for PSG, thanks to an easy setup from Mbappe. Either way, this was certainly quite a riot by the Parisians, who have now qualified for the round of 32. Certainly, Mbappe will be looking to help his side clinch the French Cup before he leaves for Real Madrid.

Kylian Mbappe might be packing his bags for Real Madrid
The Mbappe-Madrid saga looks to be coming to an end. As the winger approaches the last six months of his contract in Paris, he is expected to leave as a free agent to join Los Blancos. However, Real Madrid is not intending to offer him a significant salary this summer, and Mbappe is aware of this.

Additionally, there is a deadline set by the club in mid-January for the player to decide on a potential last-minute transfer. This timescale also allows Luis Enrique to seek possible replacements for his star No. 7 until the summer transfer window in 2024. Be that as it may, it remains to be seen what happens in the upcoming months.
