“What Were You Doing at 19??” – Alex Morgan, Who Stunned Fans Through an Unlikely Snap With Kylian Mbappe, Couldn’t Stop Praising French Superstar in 2018

The soccer world is home to several superstars. Amongst them is Kylian Mbappe, as fans expect him to take Lionel Messi’s mantle in the future. Despite being 24, he is one of the best players in the world and recently finished second in the FIFA Best Men’s Player award behind Messi. During the ceremony, Mbappe posed with USWNT star Alex Morgan in an iconic picture that made all the headlines.  

Likewise, Morgan received a nomination for the Women’s best player award. But she finished second, like the Frenchmen. The photo, though, became iconic with two soccer icons rocking in their stunning apparel. And this is not the first time their connection appeared in the limelight. It dates back to June 30th, 2018, when Morgan couldn’t believe the man’s talents.

The sensational French soccer player donned a dark blue suit and looked sharp. Morgan, in the meantime, wore a pink suit that captured the flashes of the fashion world. The duo, though, had similar career paths. Back at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the USWNT star made a sensational entry into the Women’s soccer scenario. She scored her first goal against France in the semi-final and became the undisputed key player for USWNT in the upcoming years. 

On the other hand, Kylian Mbappe exploded onto the world stage after his devastating performances at the 2018 World Cup. He scored four goals in the World Cup, and two came against Argentina’s Lionel Messi. Alex Morgan was left impressed by the speedy Frenchman after his goal-scoring exploits. At that time, he was 19, and Morgan tweeted, “What were you doing at 19?????? Take a bow Kylian Mbappe.”

She was stunned at the young player’s progress during the World Cup. And she wanted people to recollect what they did when they were 19. To sum up, this question comes across everyone’s mind. 

Two glittering careers 

Although Morgan failed to win her first World Cup, she claimed two cups in 2015 and 2019. Moreover, she played an instrumental role in bringing the trophy to USWNT as they set themselves up for years of domination in women’s soccer. Therefore, Morgan’s fine career since is understood by all. As for Mbappe, he is on top of the world. 

After winning the 2018 World Cup, he and France reached the final of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Argentina’s Lionel Messi emerged as the victor and won his first World Cup, but Mbappe stole the show with a hat trick and a converted spot-kick in the penalty shoot-out. In addition, he scored eight goals in the competition and grabbed the golden boot. The two soccer players had identical career paths. While one is young and going strong, the other is older but still going strong.
