“What on Earth Is This?” – Wrexham’s Promotion Hero Ben Foster Left Shell-Shocked by Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool Memorabilia Gift

It has been an amazing journey for Wrexham so far. Owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have led the club to emphatic success. Not only the owners, but the whole team, including the manager and the players, have done a terrific job for the Welsh side.

The likes of Paul Mullin, Ben Foster, and Elliot Lee have given everything on the pitch to help their side get promoted. Emergency signing Ben Foster has emerged as one of the backbone players of the club. The former Manchester United keeper arrived at the Racecourse Ground only a few months ago.

His signing proved fruitful, as they clinched their hands on the silverware. Thanks to his penalty save, the player managed to get Wrexham across the line. Now it seems that, due to his heroics, the keeper has received a heartwarming gift from the owner.

Ben Foster receives a piece of memorabilia from Ryan Reynolds

Following the win, Reynolds crashed the press conference and asked Foster for his shirt. The keeper happily gave his shirt to the owner. However, in the latest installment of his own podcast called Fozcast, he revealed what he actually got in exchange for his shirt.

“This is incredible right so, Ryan Reynolds text me the day of the [Boreham Wood] game to say, ‘Can I have your shirt?’,” said Foster. Reynolds replied to the keeper’s agreement, “Cool because I’ve got something for you as well.”  Confused with what Reynolds meant, Foster said, “I was like ‘What on earth’s this?’ So anyway he texted me yesterday and said ‘I forgot to tell you what it is’.”

Reynolds then revealed his surprise gift. “I was going through my memorabilia the other day of Deadpool and I found the original gloves that I wore in the film.” To that, the soccer veteran added his excitement, saying it would go in a frame in the Foster household.

It seems the keeper couldn’t believe his eyes that he was getting such historic memorabilia from Reynolds. But this might not be the only gift he receives after fans have expressed their desire for Foster to extend his stay at the club.

Another season at Wrexham?

Foster has been a hero for Wrexham. In the state of an emergency, the player stepped up and signed a short-term deal to help the Welsh side. His arrival helped the club tremendously. In a title-deciding game against Notts County, Foster saved a penalty in the 96th minute. After the save, Reynolds and Foster had a tête-à-tête during the celebrations.

Then the actor said, “Alright that’s a contract. He said, ‘We’ll do it again next year’. That’s it done. That is as good as gold. You just verbally signed.” It seems Reynolds is keen to keep Foster for yet another season.
