Ryan Reynolds bringing Wrexham to Hollywood—Is this the best thing to happen to the club?

Paul Mullin never misses a moment out of the spotlight. Often making his name on the soccer pitch for scoring dozens of goals for Wrexham AFC, this time the Welsh forward is making rounds in the Hollywood world. What if we were to tell you that Mullin was in Ryan Reynolds’ and Huge Jackman’s newly released Deadpool & Wolverine? But for those who already spotted the League One star, what role did he exactly play?

Spoiler alert for those who are yet to watch the movie: Paul Mullin precisely played a cameo role in the new Shawn Levy-directed movie. Though his face wasn’t visible, the striker appeared as ‘Welshpool.’ The 29-year-old wore the same red-black bodysuit as Deadpool, but with Welsh flags prominently displayed on the shoulders and chest of the character’s outfit. The Welshpool character appears during a scene in the movie where many Deadpool versions from different universes come together. The camera pauses at one point to emphasize the Mullin-played character.

Notably, even Reynolds also broke his silence on his favorite Wrexham star’s appearance in his franchise movie. The actor took to X and shared pictures of himself and Mullin wearing their respective suits that were taken during the shoot. “You may have noticed one member of the Deadpool Corps was far deadlier than the rest. WELSHPOOL.”

Interestingly, Mullin wasn’t alone as his fellow Wrexham forward Ollie Palmer also made an appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine as an extra in a bar scene. However, only eagle-eyed fans could spot the Red Dragons’ No. 9’s face on screen.

Regardless, it is quite remarkable to see both Wrexham stars in the new movie, who would also be thrilled to have become a part of their owners’ film. While its a certainly a moment to share, Mullin is doing a little extra.

Having featured as Cameo, it seems Paul Mullin will now be doing the movie promotions while in action. This comes after the Liverpool-born forward showed off his customized Adidas predator soccer boots on social media, themed after the film. The color of the boots was of course, red, with white soles and black stripes had a yellow-colored quote saying, “F*** THE WOLVIE!” On the front part of the right cleat is written “LFG,” while the left cleat says, “PM10.”

The cleats have been customized by Zebra Customs, a Wrexham-based custom artist who specializes in apparel customs. From the first look, we are in awe of the design. But more importantly, it remains to be seen whether Mullin wears it on the turf and stars by scoring goals with it. For now, we congratulate Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer for their cameo appearance as well as Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool & Wolverine success.
