Foster reminisces about being noticed by Sir Alex Ferguson

It was in 2005 when Foster played for the Welsh club for the first time. He came on a loan from Stoke City. Although, this seemingly small move in his career had a goliath of an impact. It was with Wrexham he got the attention of a legendary soccer manager and within a few months, Foster was in Old Trafford. In a recent talk with Manchester Evening News, Foster talked about that time and how everything came to light.

He said, “If it wasn’t for Wrexham, I wouldn’t have got a move to Manchester United. I was at Stoke for three or four years, I remember going out to Wrexham and it was at Wrexham that it kicked off for me because we had Darren Ferguson, obviously Sir Alex’s son. I remember we played in the LDV Vans final and I remember seeing Alex Ferguson’s face on the telly at the Millennium Stadium.

The former England international continued, “I did well that game and it was a couple of weeks later, Darren grabbed me and said, ‘My dad’s keeping tabs on you now so just keep going the way you’re going and Man Utd might want to buy you.’ I was like, ‘What?!I was **ting myself! I still had half a dozen games to go. Imagine trying to deal with that when you’re 21 or 22 and haven’t done anything in your career“.
