What Happened at Trabzonspor vs Fenerbahce as Michy Batshuayi Tried to Kick Fan After Being Attacked by Rival Fans? Uncovering the Real Reason

There are times when the ‘beautiful game’ ends up showing its ugly side. The match between Turkish giants Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce proved to be exactly that. Former Manchester United star Fred scored a brace to put Fenerbahce in the lead. However, Trabzonspor scored twice to equalize, and the match seemed to be heading toward a draw. This was until Michy Batshuayi scored a late winner in the 87th minute. Little did he know that this would cause an outrage.

The Fenerbahce players then proceeded to celebrate in the center circle in front of the visibly agitated Trabzonspor.

What led to Michy Batshuayi’s attempt to kick a fan?

The late defeat did not go down well with the home fans. Adding salt to the wound was Fenerbahce and Michy Batshuayi’s celebrations on the pitch. Consequently, one fan ran onto the pitch to confront the away team. However, the pitch invader was chased down by the match security. This just further riled up the already agitated crowd. As a result, numerous fans burst onto the pitch and charged at the players. Some confrontations were caught on camera including the one involving Batshuayi.

The footage showed an opposition player approaching Michy Batshuayi. Out of nowhere, the Belgian unleashed what seemed like a spinning kick! Fortunately, he didn’t seem to make much connection or perhaps even missed entirely. However, his fellow teammate Samuel Osayi didn’t miss his attempts.

The former QPR and Blackpool star was confronted by another fan. Notably, this fan had a knife along with him. Hence, Osayi resorted to self-defense measures in the one-on-one situation. He pinned the fan down on the ground and punched him. It is not yet known what sort of penalty Michy Batshuayi and Osayi will face. However, one thing is clear. They will have the support of their board members.

A clash between Fenerbahce board members and Trabzonspor fans!

While Michy Batshuayi was doing roundhouse kicks on the pitch, the Fenerbahce board members were also quite busy in the stands. In fact, one chief was seen throwing cups and other items at the home fans. Some of these items were quite sharp and even appeared to hurt fans. Notably, there were many such battles in the stands.
