Besides Wrexham, both owners are known for their big hearts, as they have a close relationship with the community. They have given a lot to the people, and it seems they once again got their names in the good books as they helped their own legend.

Ryan Reynolds vowed to help club legend

Back in April 2022, Reynolds pledged to help a 72-year-old Wrexham legend watch a historic match. The Hollywood actor vowed to help the former club captain, Gareth Davies, watch the final cup game at Wembley. Fans had started a campaign to help his family get him to witness the FA Trophy Final.

However, the campaign somehow caught the eye of the Deadpool star, who pledged to help the club legend and even tweeted about the cause. “Rob and I will make sure Gareth makes it to Wembley in comfort. He showed up for Wrexham AFC and we’ll show up for him. #GarethIsGoingToWembley.”

Mr. Davies is suffering from dementia and lives in a care home. However, he received major help from the new owners. In fact, Mr. Davies’ family members were flabbergasted by Reynolds’ response. “We are pretty overwhelmed,” said son-in-law Chris Braisdell. “His battle with dementia is hard, but he always remembers the good old days.”

Mr. Braisdell insisted neither he nor his wife knew about any kind of campaign that was started for Mr. Gareth. Moreover, they were very surprised to see such a heartwarming gesture from the fans.

“We didn’t expect quite a reaction from the fans,” he said. “It takes more of the burden off us, like looking after his care.” They also described the gesture as an “opportunity to thank him for what he has done for the club.”

Changing lives in Wrexham

It seems Reynolds hasn’t forgotten his community, as he is constantly on the lookout for ways to give back. He recently helped a Wrexham staff member, Kerry Evans, who was limited to a wheelchair because of a brain bleed.

While talking to The Athletic, Kerry told how she was going to give up until she met with the owners, and they gave her life a new direction. They asked her to go as a full-timer and even funded the club for the away fixtures.

She also hailed the Welsh side, saying, “An incredible gesture by the club, as something like this changes lives. We’ve had fans who had never been to an away game who can suddenly go. That’s led to a few tears along the way.”
