After 15 years of absence from the Football League, Wrexham AFC finally achieved its dream. The roller coaster campaign came to an end with the world’s third-oldest soccer club winning the Vanarama National League title to get automatically promoted to League Two.
An impressive 3-1 win over Boreham Wood on the penultimate match day ensured their title and promotion. The owners couldn’t have asked for more after narrowly missing out on the promotion last year.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney came together to buy a soccer club. They wanted to buy a club from the lower division, and Wrexham attracted them. The duo took over the club on February 9, 2021, and was backed by 98% of the Supporters Trust members. Since the takeover, the owners have given it all to get the club on the world map.
The players responded this season. Wrexham had a record-breaking season by achieving highest ever points in a single National League season. The promotion season was no less than a Hollywood ending, as it was full of drama.
Welcome To Wrexham season 2 will be scintillating
Wrexham came into the season with the primary aim of getting a promotion. The title race was a roller coaster throughout the season. Notts County kept the pressure on them the entire season. County gave it all and, at one point, were favorites to win the league. However, that’s where the Red Dragons stepped up.
Who would have thought a goalkeeper that came out of retirement to join Wrexham helped them win a crucial game against Notts County? Ben Foster did it by saving a last-minute penalty. It was a vital win, which turned the title race in favor of the Red Dragons. The game and the entire season were full of drama. It was like a script for a Hollywood movie. Turning more eyes to the event, Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd was also in attendance.
This success story is what will now transpire into the second season of the Welcome To Wrexham documentary. The series has dramatic content to be a hit this year after its release. In addition, the women’s team’s promotion will also provide good substance for the series. With the scintillating title race, massive FA Cup campaign, and the win against Notts Couty, they gear up for the second season of the famous series with a Hollywood ending.
