Just hours ago, Paris Saint-Germain returned to domestic action as they hosted Reims for their Ligue 1 fixture. Once again, the Parisians came out on top, as a hattrick from their star player, Kylian Mbappe, helped them clinch an easy 3-0 victory. While one would consider it a man-of-the-match performance, his coach, Luis Enrique, isn’t convinced!
This win has pushed PSG to the top of the table with 27 points. They are now a point ahead of their rivals, OGC Nice. Additionally, with this hat trick, Mbappe is leading the top-scorers list with 13 goals in Ligue 1 so far. This brings up the question, why was the manager unhappy with the Frenchman?

Last night, Kylian Mbappe managed to put on a memorable show against Reims. An early three-minute goal and two goals in the second half helped him bang in a hattrick against the home side. While his performance brings him into the good books of his ardent fans, it somehow fails to impress his boss, Luis Enrique.
In the post-match interview, the Spanish boss was asked about his star player’s performance. Interestingly, instead of heaping praise, Enrique had some strong words for the player. He said, “I’m not really happy with Kylian today. I have nothing to say about the goals… But he can help the team more, in different ways. We still need a better Kylian Mbappe, and I believe he can improve. He’s a world-class player, we want more. I’m going to talk to him about it first, it’s private.”
Indeed, this is quite a piece of constructive criticism from the former Barcelona coach. Certainly, it must have left Kylian Mbappe confused as despite performing brilliantly, he wasn’t able to convince his boss, who demanded more from him last night. Nevertheless, the Frenchman will likely strive to improve himself according to the demands of his coach.

Meanwhile, the win gives a respite to the French giants, as they recently endured a poor 2-1 loss in the Champions League against AC Milan. Speaking of which, the loss enticed Kylian Mbappe to give a realistic evaluation of PSG’s ambitions in the Champions League.

That’s the most important thing right now”.
