She wrote, “Sometimes, soccer can be cruel. We sacrifice so much for this game – Time away from our families, tearing our bodies apart, and a billion other things that most people will never understand. For our dedication and reasoning for wearing the crest to be questioned is unfathomable. I am proud of this team!”

The message was certainly quite long, as Williams highlighted how the team fought till the last breath. The USWNT No. 6 insisted that despite getting knocked out by Sweden, their performance in the RO16 was “beautiful to watch” and “a joy to play.” While insisting on being proud of her, she reminisced on her journey to where she is today.

Williams also hopes her story inspires people to not give up easily. “To wear this crest is always and honor and a privilege. Thank you,” she concluded.
