Wrexham AFC‘s fairy tale has come to an end. New owners, Ryan Reynolds, and Rob McElhenney, have turned the face of the club from mediocre to what may very well be the fierce Red Dragon. The Hollywood-like ending would make a perfect story to tell in the second season of Welcome to Wrexham. However, amid the fiasco, one star of the soccer-centered show, Apple TV’s Ted Lasso made a huge statement about the show’s effect on the owners of Wrexham.

Ted Lasso influenced the Wrexham takeover
In a talk on Capital XTRA Breakfast with Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie, Ted Lasso star Kola Bokinni gave his view on Wrexham AFC. Bokkini plays Isaac McAdoo, the captain of AFC Richmond in the show. The star jokingly claimed that the show had inspired the Wrexham owner, Ryan Reynolds.

In the talk, the actor said, “It’s a brilliant story, the Wrexham story is amazing, even last season, them coming so close and this season with them doing it, it’s beautiful to see and watch. There are many scenarios that you could say… but we’re going to claim it, of course definitely, yes, 100 percent we influenced Ryan Reynolds! I’m joking. That’s something only Ryan knows.”
The fans won’t mind Wrexham going on the path of AFC Richmond and playing in the Premier League one day. Even, the Deadpool star has already planned a multi-decade path for the club which might see the Welsh side compete the top tier of soccer.
