A step in a hurry can reverse some fine work done by Wrexham AFC in the last few years. After the takeover by the Hollywood owners, the club saw a 360-degree improvement being taken care of in every aspect. But with the upcoming challenge being next level, fans are getting restless for a squad upgrade. However, the coach Phil Parkinson has made the club’s roadmap clear that they wouldn’t rush into the matter as they gear up for the EFL League One. But are the Red Dragons intending to go modest this transfer window?

The club experiencing a momentous shift in their performance has raised the expectations of all the supporters. But the coach’s recent comments reveal that the club is hellbent on making just quality transfers. According to the Leader, Parkinson said, “We have got a good core of players in the building already so we don’t need to jump in and sign players we don’t feel are right,” hinting that they may not have found the right players to replace the outgoing ones. Nevertheless, he also stated, “The club could fall short of players as they let off nine players from the previous season.”

It was a hard time for the club to leave some of the people who were on their incredible journey so far. Wrexham will not have the services of the skipper, Ben Tozer, first-team captain Luke Young, and goalkeeper Rob Lainton. Additionally, defenders Aaron Hayden, Jordan Tunnicliffe, Dan Davies, and Callum McFadzean along with midfielder Owen Cushion have made their way out. Nevertheless, Parkinson admits that their next squad strategy isn’t much different despite players moving out, citing that their core remains the same.

According to Parkinson, the club is still negotiating with new targets and their agents. However, he emphasized that they won’t just push the process, but need players to compliment the existing squad. On a positive note, Wrexham will continue to have their lead scorer, Paul Mullin, and midfielder Elliot Lee until 2027 after renewing their contracts earlier this year. Both of them scored 41 goals last season leading their second consecutive promotion, the first time in the club’s history.

Meanwhile, Wrexham is keen on signing a few players this time. Their loaned signing from Arsenal, Arthur Okonkwo, is their main man for the next season after getting into the League Two’s Team of the Season. Moreover, it looks like the third-oldest soccer club in the world is also monitoring Rotherham’s Jamie Lindsay and Deby County’s Conor Hourihane’s situation. With all the discussions and the transfer market giving them time till August 30th, Parkinson’s crew will hope to land some competitive athletes.
