Importance of mental health in soccer

As a part of the Inside Matters campaign of the Premier League, rapper Reepa spoke to the Wolves defender about mental health in soccer. Toti Gomes had a detailed discussion with the rapper over the issue in soccer. “I think it’s really important not just the football, everything in general,” Gomes stated.

“But when it comes to football, it’s really important. And I say that because I have some examples not from myself, but from some players that I know, and my friends, right now is not playing football because they’re kind of affected a little bit and after he moved out, because football is like up and down,” Wolves defender said, highlighting the importance of the issue in soccer.

Toti Gomes also opened up on how it is difficult to cope with mental issues. “You know, it’s not easy. And sometimes you’re like very lonely. We are sometimes very lonely. You spend a lot of time alone and speak with one close friend, not in general life, for everybody. You never know what someone is going through in their head,” he added.

Inside Matters initiative by the Premier League
