‘Welcome to Wrexham’  played a major role in getting Wrexham back on the world map. Undoubtedly, club co-owner Ryan Reynolds’ idea to shoot a docuseries was truly a unique one. Recently, the well-known docuseries was nominated for six Emmy awards. The Deadpool star was quick to post a heartfelt response to the fanbase thanking them for allowing him to ‘tell their tale’.

The new season is just weeks away as the Welsh soccer club prepares to compete in a new division. Before that, Reynolds and his team will travel to the US to play a few nail-biting friendlies during their preseason.

‘Welcome to Wrexham’ is one of a kind. For a club previously in the Vanarama National League to have its own docuseries is a big thing in itself. The Hollywood duo of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the club with a long-term ambition. That was basically to get their club to the highest tier of English soccer. And they’re very much on their way!

The club and its new owners have already received tons of praise for their tireless efforts. Here’s another achievement, but this one is even bigger. The 2023 Emmy Awards just released their nominee lists and Wrexham’s docuseries is on six of them. Club co-owner Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter for addressing an important and emotional message to the fanbase.

He quoted, “The story of Wrexham has resonated with millions of people because you don’t have to be Welsh or a football fan to be moved by this town. We are so grateful for today’s 6 Emmy Nominations and are continuously honored the people of Wrexham allow us to tell their tale. Diolch! Cymru am byth!”.

These are the six awards ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ has received a nomination for. Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program, Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Program, Outstanding Sound Editing for a Nonfiction of Reality Program, Outstanding Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Reality Program.

As part of their preseason, Wrexham will face Manchester United and Chelsea in the US. Without a doubt, it will be a tough test for Phil Parkinson and his team. But playing bigger and stronger oppositions during the preseason is always a benefit. A few days ago, the league announced its schedule for the season and Reynolds’ club was fortunate to have three home games in the first five.

The club kicks off its EFL League Two campaign against MK Dons at the Racecourse. After a record-breaking 111-point season, the Welsh soccer club will look to start off this season on a positive note. Undoubtedly, a league promotion will help Reynolds entice a few big names toward to club. They did try their best to convince Gareth Bale earlier but that didn’t work out, but never say never!
