Trinity Rodman’s new look: A bold statement or just another trend? What’s your take?

Spain’s Marc Cucurella vowed he would dye his curly hair red if they would win the UEFA Euro 2024. And after La Roja emerged victorious, the Chelsea left-back kept his promise. Though we aren’t the judge here to rate Cucurella’s style, what we certainly like to shed light on is the new look of Trinity Rodman. The USWNT forward, who won gold at the Paris Olympics, has ditched her pink braids which were a nod to Megan Rapinoe.

Rodman was first spotted with braids last December. She went for a simple palette at that time, sporting a sandy brown look with golden strands, reflecting her natural hair color. She even went all red with her braids in June, after dying her hair blonde the month before. But as the Olympics neared, Rodman decided to change her look

Before kicking off with the summer games, the daughter of Dennis Rodman was seen in long braids that were dyed pink with an eye on replicating her mentor Rapinoe’s success at the 2019 World Cup. However, now that the tournament has ended, Trinity chose to say goodbye to them.

It was revealed through the Washington Spirit forward’s Instagram, where she posted a story of herself chopping off the pink braids on her own. The 22-year-old posed with a pout and thumbs up and wrote a caption “Me to my pink hair: Your work is done here.”

Additionally, on the pile of pink braids was lying her gold medal as she also mentioned “#goldmedalist” below the picture. Now before you question what is the new look of Rodman, the NWSL star didn’t take the time to share that as well.

The USWNT forward shared another selfie on her story where her hair was dyed golden more akin to her natural color as she made her signature curly bun. Wearing a black hoodie with a gold medal and posing with an inward victory sign, Trin wrote a caption saying, “Flying in style.”

Rodman was instrumental in the USA’s success at the Olympics. She kickstarted her team’s campaign with the first goal for her side at the Games against Zambia. She also popped up with a goal in the USA’s hard-fought group-stage win over Australia. But her shining moment came in the quarterfinal against Japan.

Have an interesting take?

With Emma Hayes’ team toiling in extra time against a stubborn Japanese side, Rodman took on a defender before cutting and unleashing curling strike from the edge of the box into the top left corner of the goal. This goal made her the youngest player in USWNT history to score a goal in an Olympic knockout match and booked USA’s place in the semi-final.

USA went on to first beat Germany in the semis before seeing off Brazil in the final thanks to a Mallory Swanson strike to win a first gold medal since 2012.

Though Rodman’s classic golden curl bun also suits her, we wouldn’t lie that those pink braids looked nice. But it seems like their job was done, to help the team win gold, a technique which her former teammate once did!

How Trinity Rodman kept Megan Rapinoe’s tradition alive to help the USWNT win the Paris Olympics final

Before the Paris Olympics 2024 final, fans noticed an uncanny theme. A few memes were shared highlighting that Trinity Rodman was rocking a shade of pink in her hair similar to the retired superstar Megan Rapinoe sported during the 2019 FIFA World Cup. The Spirit’s star was questioned by PEOPLE magazine about the comparisons in a pre-match presser, to which she replied, “Yeah, I’ve been sent a few [of the memes],”

“We got to see Pinoe [Rapinoe], so I talked to her about that. I guess we need some color somewhere and pink’s been the color — pink, purple, whatever. So yeah, I guess we’ve got to continue that moving forward,” acknowledged the 22-year-old.

There you go, seems like pink is the luck charm for USWNT. First, it saw Rapinoe and others win the 2019 World Cup, now Rodman did it by winning the gold at the Olympics. Either way, it’s quite a unique trick and tradition.
