Earlier today, the Leagues Cup undeniably witnessed one of the most entertaining matches in its recent history. The match between Inter Miami and Dallas FC  proved to be a goal fest as both sides scored 4 goals each with the game going to extra time. The match was eventually decided by penalty kicks with the David Beckham-owned side ending up finding the victory.

The crowd witnessing this extravagant attacking prowess from both sides was evidently jubilant. The owners themselves were extremely excited and as they were trying to enter the locker room to celebrate with the players, their path was met by an equally excited group of fans.

Ever since Lionel Messi joined the MLS, every Inter Miami has been a must-watch spectacle. Last night saw the GOAT score two spectacular goals to enthrall the crowd even more. While his first goal was a typical outside-the-box Messi finish, his second goal was the all-important free-kick equalizer.

It was a celebratory mood everywhere and unfortunately, David Beckham had to witness it under not-so-ideal circumstances. As Beckham was en route to the team’s locker room from the owners’ suite, the former Manchester United was mobbed by a barrage of high-spirited fans. The fans however in their pursuit to celebrate with Becks failed owing to the Miami staffers forming a human shield and protecting the owner.

Despite being an away game for Inter Miami, the crowd was thrilled after witnessing 8 goals + 10 penalty kicks in a single game. Even though the home side lost, everyone in unison was in awe of Messi’s freekick. It was one of those nights where everyone can say that “football won”. However, obviously it wasn’t so joyful for the rivals.

When even the home fans start cheering and celebrating after their side loses, it’s highly likely that the away side had a player with superhuman performance. And unfortunately for FC Dallas, Messi’s superhuman instincts were full-on display today. FC Dallas’s coach also conceded in his post-match presser that Messi was the difference maker between them.

“I thought we had it,” FC Dallas coach Nico Estévez said. He then praised Messi’s performance by praising him intensely for his free-kick leveler. “I think it’s not much to say. I think everyone can see it. It’s obvious for him a free kick around there is like a PK for another player,” Estévez said.
