Lionel Messi is a name that is forever inscribed in soccer history. But that day isn’t far when the Argentinian superstar will hang up his boots. Luckily, soccer seems to run in the bloodline of La Pulga, as his kids look to carry forward his legacy. Among the three toddlers who have managed to grab eyeballs with their antics, this time it is Mateo Messi, the second son, who scored an outrageous hat trick.

The eight-year-old had also joined Inter Miami’s academy, just like his elder brother Thiago. Remarkably, he is turning quite a few heads. This was witnessed in one of the videos that surfaced on X, where little Mateo can be seen wearing his number 10 Miami shirt and netting three brilliant goals in a match. In the compilation video, he is dribbling against other little kids exactly like Leo Messi used to do in his childhood.

The first goal he scored was by playing a 1-2-1 pass with one of his teammates and firing in the bottom left corner with his right foot from a tight angle. Then he cleverly performed a feint by stopping the ball with his left foot and turning to net the second goal inside the box. The last one is our favourite, where he receives a long ball and beautifully controls it, only to put it past the sliding keeper. In other parts of the clip, Mateo can be seen making good plays as well.

After the hattrick, the little one even did a grass-sliding celebration. Either way, it was quite a remarkable performance from Mateo. Notably, Messi’s long-term rival’s son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., is also making strides.

A new lineage will carry forward the Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi debate

After watching Mateo Messi, we are confident that he is on a course to rule the soccer world. Likewise, his elder brother, Thiago, is also tearing up for Inter Miami’s U12 side, scoring outrageous volleys. However, both brothers can expect tough competition from Cristiano Ronaldo’s eldest son, Cristiano Jr.

The 13-year-old had earlier inked a three-year contract with Al Nassr’s academy. Interestingly, aside from doing wonders, Cris Jr is even mirroring his dad’s on-pitch antics. Nevertheless, on a serious note, it’s good that the new generation has embarked on a path to shine their last names, which are none less than sacred in soccer.
