It was an important game for both teams in the context of the title race, as the stakes were high. Al-Ittihad dominated the game and had an all-important goal scored by Romarinho in the 80th minute. While the win for the Al-Ittihad has opened up a fierce title race that will go down the wire, it also made us witness an angry side of the Portuguese superstar, who was not only frustrated by the loss but also by the chants.

Cristiano Ronaldo was angry at the end of the game

Al Nassr traveled to Al-Ittihad for the crucial fixture. However, the home fans greeted Ronaldo and Al Nassr with continuous Messi chants. The fans didn’t stop there as they continuously threw Messi chants at Ronaldo during the warm-up and also after the game.

It irked the Portuguese, who was seen furious after the game ended in a disappointing loss for his team. He even kicked the water bottles kept on the sidelines while going back to the dugout. It again resulted in Al-Ittihad supporters chanting the name of his fierce rival and some booing. His teammate consoled Ronaldo, as seen in the video that surfaced on social media.

It isn’t the first time in his career that Ronaldo has been greeted with Messi chants during the game. It was more of a routine when he used to play at Real Madrid and Messi at FC Barcelona. However, whenever fans threw chants at the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, he silenced them with his performances.

He was amidst controversy when he had shown 18 cards during the Qatar FIFA World Cup quarter-final between Argentina and the Netherlands. However, it was only the second time Lahoz officiated the Al Nassr game. In the 2019-20 season, he was in charge of Al Nassr’s 2-0 win over Al-Faisaly.
