Wrexham has done it again. Aside from the on-pitch achievements, the Welsh side is making strides in their off-field excellence. Just hours ago, the club’s revered documentary, ‘Welcome to Wrexham,’ won the 2023 Emmy Award. Amidst the celebrations, club owners and Hollywood gems Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney fired their unique responses to the win after a 16-year exile.

Already receiving other honorable mentions, this time the docuseries has won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Series. Reynolds and McElhenney, who missed the coveted prize presentation at the award show, filmed a humorous one-minute video and shared it on X with the description, “Welcome to Wrexham, Emmys.” McElhenney starts the message by saying, “Wow, an Emmy, what an incredible honor. There are so many people to thank. I have been waiting for this moment for 16 years.”

Additionally, Reynolds shared a graphic of the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary on his Instagram story and wrote a caption saying, “Congratulations to this whole team!” Moreover, McElhenney’s wife, Kaitlin Olson, also shared the Emmy standings on her Instagram story and wrote “AAAAAGGGGHHH,” while also adding Paul Mullin’s clapping graphic. Notably, the documentary has won five awards in total, including Outstanding Direction, Cinematography, Picture Editing, and Sound Mixing.
