Over the years, Cristiano Ronaldo has proven to everyone that he can play in any league in the world. In fact, his numbers speak for himself as the Portuguese has won major trophies for all the clubs he has majorly played for.

The same magic was being anticipated from the striker after the player opted for a move to Saudi Arabia. Thus, raising expectations of soccer world, after signing a lucrative two-year contract worth $200 million.

Al Nassr fans had high hopes for the new signing. However, things have taken a drastic turn, as it hasn’t been the start of the journey that Ronaldo was dreaming of.

The solid blame game

It has been a tough start for Ronaldo at Al Nassr, as they endured a humiliating exit in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup.

Rudi Garcia’s side was thrashed 3-1 by Al-Ittihad, who took an early 2-0 lead in the first half. A goal from Talisca lifted Al-Nassr’s spirits. However, all the effort went in vain, as a goal from Muhannad sealed a victory for Al-Ittihad.

It was a bad start for the 37-year-old, who was looking to book a place in the finals and win his first trophy just after arriving this month. But it wasn’t a lucky day for his side.

Things got more bitter for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. After the match, Garcia pointed fingers at the star signing, who had missed early chances in the first half. “One of the things that changed the course of the match was Cristiano Ronaldo’s missed opportunity in the first half,” said the French manager.

Ronaldo had a clear chance to score twice but missed either of the chances, thanks to a tough man marking from Al-Ittihad.

Fans turn against Cristiano Ronaldo

This wasn’t the end of the poor night for Ronaldo, as he faced a major backlash from Al Nassr fans. After the game, Ronaldo and his camp were booed and jeered by their home fans.

Furthermore, to rub salt in the wounds, Al Ittihad fans were chanting Lionel Messi’s name. Things got rowdier outside the stadium, as one fan was stamping on CR7’s jersey and rubbing his shoes.

It’s really sad to see the legendary player getting such disrespect. Al Nassr fans must remember what Cristiano Ronaldo is capable of. Nevertheless, we reckon that it’s a major setback for the former Madrid man, and things will definitely go his way.
