Earlier today, Manchester United endured a frustrating loss against German giants Borussia Dortmund. Despite starting the match brightly, the Premier League side lost the grip over time owing to defensive errors and a lack of pressing. This was United’s third successive loss in the pre-season and unsurprisingly, one of the best performers, Andre Onana, was disappointed with the former club captain.

Andre Onana lashes out at Harry Maguire mid-match after a grave error by the defender

Manchester United started the second half trailing 2-1 to Dortmund. For the Red Devils to make a comeback, it was important to start the second half on the front foot. Conceding another goal early on would’ve mostly been curtains for the night.

In the 47th minute of the match, United midfielder Christian Eriksen attempted a slick pass near United’s box, which unfortunately failed. This led to a counterattack by Dortmund’s attacker, who was supposed to be marked by Harry Maguire. Surprisingly, Maguire stopped chasing the ball as the attacker raced to the goal and attempted a shot at United’s goalpost leading to Onana pulling off a blinder of a save.

As expected, the former Inter Milan goalkeeper was furious with the defender. After the attack was thwarted, Onana went to Maguire and gave him an earful, expressing his displeasure at the England international’s dreadful efforts.

The gaffer believed that the team performed well for the first hour. But then they lost the plot with Ten Hag, believing that the goals were conceded due to silly mistakes. “That wasn’t good at all. I said to the team, I think it was a good tour. But you want to finish with a good performance and there was only 60 minutes that I was pleased with, but not with the goals we conceded because the first one was poor defending and the second one was poor in build-up,” said the gaffer criticizing his players as per Manchester Evening News.
