In the touching video, Gisele’s heartfelt words surprise Alyssa. In a touching and intimate moment shared between the sisters, Alyssa is caught off guard when she starts reading her sister’s heartfelt letter. “Gisele doesn’t usually tell me how she feels, so I’m, I’m—it’s okay. Probably gonna be,” Alyssa admits with a hint of vulnerability, showcasing the deep bond they share.

Gisele’s letter showed her unwavering support for her older sister. “Dear Alyssa, I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you and all you’ve accomplished,” Gisele begins. “You’re the only person that can make me laugh, um, that hard without even trying. I’m so glad I’ve got to watch you grow as a person and as a player”, she added.

Gisele reassures her with confidence, saying, “I know you’re nervous for the World Cup, but you got it. This has been our goal since the beginning, and I know you’re going to do amazing”.

She also shared her excitement about seeing Alyssa play in New Zealand. “I love watching you play. I can’t wait to see you play out in New Zealand. Everyone is cheering you on, and it’s crazy to see how much you’ve accomplished in just this year,” Gisele expresses. “I hope you have fun or as much fun as you can. I know it’s going to be a long trip. But just make the most out of it. You’ve got it in you, and it’s only the beginning,” her words resonating with Alyssa’s aspirations and dreams.

As Alyssa completes reading her sister’s letter and she reflected on the comfort and support she feels in Gisele’s presence. “She just makes me feel really comfortable in any environment that I am in, and like I feel like I don’t really need anyone else but her. So, it’s nice having her like that in training and stuff when she’s there and just like wherever I am. I know that, like, I’m okay,” Alyssa shared, revealing the emotional strength Gisele brings to her life.

Alyssa Thompson made her World Cup debut in USWNT’s dominant 3-0 victory over Vietnam. In an interview in Auckland, she shared her previous world cup experience. “I was at my aunt’s house, and I was watching it there because we didn’t have a TV at home”. Alyssa recalled with a sense of nostalgia as she reflected on witnessing her now-teammate, Megan Rapinoe and the rest of the American squad clinch the title in 2019 against the Netherlands.

Fast forward to the present, and Alyssa Thompson is living her dream. Alyssa had her moment in the match against Vietnam when she was subbed in as a late substitute in the 75th minute.
