The Golden Foot has released a list of 30 nominees for the prestigious award. US soccer star Megan Rapinoe is one of the 30 nominees for the inaugural award. Golden Boot and Golden Ball award winner at the 2019 Women’s World Cup held in France, she was named The Best FIFA Women’s player in 2020.

The award is entering its 20th year, and they have introduced the Golden Foot Women’s Award starting this year. They have opened the voting and urged the fans to vote for their favorite soccer star.
Golden Foot Award and the nominees
It is a prestigious award that started in 2003 and is given to soccer stars aged 28 years and above who are currently active, and the player can win the prestigious award once in a lifetime. The award has different categories and includes the Legends Award and Golden Foot Prestige award, along with the main one.

The committee has named a list of 30 female soccer stars in addition to the male players for the award. The winner will be selected based on the votes players receive.
The Golden Foot Women’s Award nominees are as follows:
Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan (USA); Alexia Putellas, Irene Paredes, Claudia Zornoza and Jennifer Hermoso (Spain); Andressa Alves, Thaisa Moreno, and Marta Vieira (Brazil); Barbara Bonansea, Valentina Cernoia, Sara Gama, Christiana Girelli, and Laura Giuliani (Italy); Kosovare Asllani, Magdalena Eriksson, and Linda Sembrant (Sweden); Amandine Henry, and Wendie Renard (France); Lieke Martens, and Shanice Van de Sanden (Netherlands); Ramona Bachman (Switzerland); Lucy Bronze (England); Onome Ebi (Nigeria); Christiane Endler (Chile); Pernille Hardes (Denmark); Mana Iwabuchi (Japan); Sole Jaimes (Argentina); Samantha Kerr (Australia); Dzsenifer Marozsan (Germany).
The list contains some impressive names, and it will definitely be difficult to predict the first winner of the Golden Foot Women’s Award 2022.

The award is given to a soccer player once in a lifetime, unlike the awards like Balon d’Or. Mohamed Salah won the award in 2021 before this Cristiano Ronaldo (2020) won it. On the other hand, one of the greatest soccer stars of this generation, Lionel Messi, is yet to win the award. In the first edition, Italian superstar Roberto Baggio got his hands not only on the prestigious award but the Legends Award too.
The soccer stars who win the award get the prestigious trophy as well as their footprints printed on the Promenade of the Champions in Monte Carlo. Undoubtedly, it is a unique way to remember the player for a lifetime. Presently, the gala event takes place in the Principality of Monaco, and the patronage of the Prince Albert II of Monaco supports it.
