The USMNT couldn’t have asked for a better start to their Copa America 2024 campaign. Gregg Berhalter‘s side picked up a comfortable 2-0 win against Bolivia in their opening encounter. The team will be quite pleased with their performance with Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun finding their names on the scoresheet. Fans seem quite pleased with their team’s performance, with the game etching its name in broadcasting history.
Significantly, the game between the USMNT and Bolivia racked up an average of 3.165 million viewers on Fox Sports. This makes the fixture the most-watched non-World Cup game in the network’s history. While this is a massive win for the broadcasters, we are not sure the US Federation can claim it as theirs.

You see, the contest between USA and Bolivia took place in the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The stadium is one of the best venues in the country, with a stunning capacity of 80,000. However, the match day saw just 47,873 fans turning up at the stadium.

Which means over 40% of the stadium was completely empty! So while a record number of fans supported the home team from home, just 0.66% of fans spent the money to watch the game from the stands. It’s not surprising with ticket prices through the roof!
Fans dismiss USMNT vs Bolivia clash because of soaring ticket prices
While there could be a lot of reasons behind the low attendance at the AT&T Stadium, fans have chalked it down to one major reason. Exorbitant ticket prices! According to Ticketmaster, the cheapest tickets for the USA vs Bolivia game started at $80. Talk about daylight robbery!

Tickets in the economy section were just economy in name, with some fans purchasing the tickets for a staggering $625. Think about it. Spending that much for an economy option makes no sense when you can sit at home and watch the game for free with cheaper popcorn! Tickets in the luxury category were no different, with prices ranging between $1000 to $3000.
The empty seats are an enormous blow for the USMNT who were hoping to see fans pour into the stadium to support the home team. However, it’s unlikely that we will see a jam-packed arena during Team USA’s games if the association and venue do not find a suitable price point for all categories.
