Moments ago, Inter Miami hosted Nashville SC for their MLS match, which sadly ended in a stalemate. Lionel Messi and his teammates couldn’t manage to clinch three points as they agreed on a draw. While the result of today’s match continues to keep them in the limelight, a USMNT legend has questioned Messi’s impact by putting his 18-year-old teammate in an ambiguous light.
Although they are still unbeaten since Messi’s arrival, the result is definitely a disappointing one. And now, La Pulga’s effect is being scrutinized, by keeping his young teammate in a questionable place.

Apparently, Inter Miami’s draw with Messi’s presence has led to various kinds of comments from the fanbase. Interestingly, it somehow started a small debate among soccer pundits and legends. Remarkably, FOX analyst Stu Holden questioned Inter Miami podcast founder Franco Panizo’s comment, who claimed it was unnecessary to bring Benjamin Cremaschi in.
Holden insisted it was rather a smart move to help Cremaschi delve into the USMNT system. But shortly, USMNT legend Herculez Gomez jumped into the debate and shot his opinion. He wrote, “I hope Cremaschi takes advantage of the opportunities presented but to think he’s done more than Jack McGlynn, Noel Buck, or Brian Gutierrez (all U20 prospects) is disingenuous. #Messi effect. Ride it, Benny. No problem w/ saying it.”

While hoping the youngster matches up with his potential, Gomez insists that it’s deceitful to say he’s done more than the aforementioned named U-20 stars. The former USA player also dragged Messi into the debate, by questioning his effect on Cremaschi. Notably, Cremaschi has dual nationality and can represent either USMNT or Argentina. Hence Holden says even if the 18-year-old isn’t ready, giving him playtime would somehow urge him to opt for the USA instead of Messi’s nation.

But it seems, Gomez was clear about his words. Be that as it may, it was quite a bold statement from the USMNT legend. Meanwhile, let’s talk about Messi’s first MLS home game that ended in a stalemate.

Lionel Messi fires blank against Nashville
The conclusion of the evening didn’t unfold as intended for Inter Miami and Lionel Messi. Despite maintaining higher possession and making inroads into the opposition’s defense, they fell short of securing the crucial three points. Notably, just days ago, they overcame the same adversary during the Leagues Cup final to secure their inaugural championship. But this time they failed to exhibit their dominance.
Interestingly, Floyd Mayweather was also in attendance to witness the performance of the Argentine superstar. As for Messi, despite being on the field from the opening whistle to the final referee’s signal, he couldn’t find the back of the net. Currently positioned 14th with a mere 22 points, their aspirations for a playoff spot have undoubtedly been derailed by today’s outcome. Certainly, Tata Martino’s side will analyze the match and strive to make a comeback in their upcoming fixture.
