On his podcast, Alexi Lalas recently shared his criticism of Nike’s newest kits for the USMNT and USWNT. He shared a humorous suggestion for one potential design alteration to the home kit, stating, “Just put a huge American flag across the chest, and I’m good with that.” The 53-year-old moved ahead in his review of Nike’s home kit by articulating, “It’s one thing to be crisp and clean and simple. Shifting his attention to the away kit, Lalas pointed out a flaw in the design. The sports commentator added, “The blue one is interesting in that they’re trying for some stuff. However, the red at the bottom of the blue is going to get lost when you tuck it into your shirt.” Adding further insight into it, he noted, “And so it’s just gonna be kind of trim and an afterthought.”
Despite these criticisms, Alexi Lalas appreciated the fact that the kits were unisex. Moving forward, American fans will see these designs in upcoming tournaments such as the Copa America and the Olympics. Also, the USMNT is set to debut the kit in the upcoming CONCACAF Nations League.
