Home fans will be cheering for the USMNT as they prepare to return to the Copa America stage this summer. With the United States hosting the coveted CONMEBOL tournament, players will relish the chance to play under the bright lights of their home turf. United States head coach Gregg Berhalter announced his 26-man squad for Copa America earlier tonight, with the manager making big changes to his team.

The USMNT has raised the bar after their recent draw against Brazil. With the friendlies now out of the way, Berhalter’s side looks like the favorites after Uruguay to qualify for the knockouts. The team will start their campaign against Bolivia in their opening contest, before facing Panama in the follow-up fixture. If the team can win the two games, the side will probably qualify for the knockouts regardless of the outcome of their last group game against Uruguay.

(*This is the fifth appearance for the USMNT in the Copa America with the side playing in only 4 editions of the tournament, i.e. in 1993, 1995, 2007, and 2016)

Notable names that did not make the cut include Drake Callender, Brandon Vasquez, Alejandro Zendejas, Reggie Cannon, and Zak Steffen.

Young Stars to Watch out for

Yunus Musah: The AC Milan star, despite his young age, has established himself as one of the key players for the team. Musah is a great holding option in the midfield and can also be used as an attacking option if needed. The player could be a superb partner for Weston McKennie or Tyler Adams, who could slot into the team after an extended spell on the sidelines because of injury.

Ricardo Pepi: While some people question Pepi’s selection over Brandon Vasquez, the player has done a good job to earn his place in the team. Despite a lack of chances at PSV, the USMNT starlet has shown his worth as a striker and could be a lethal weapon for Gregg Berhalter in the final third.

USMNT Predicted Playing XI and Key Players

Gregg Berhalter will look to make the most out of a defensive 4-3-3 formation. It’s unlikely the manager would change to his trusty tactics.
