Every sports athlete is unique in a way. Each of them has its own story of success. While some of these athletes reached the pinnacle very easily, it isn’t quite the same road for the rest. One such athlete is Simone Manuel. USWNT star, Alex Morgan, was one of the first athletes to react proudly to Manuel’s life journey.

Recently, Manuel opened up about her emotional story to the top. Her fans then reached out to her and gave her all the love that she deserved since Day 1.
How did Alex Morgan react to Manuel’s emotional journey?
Simone Manuel is an American professional swimmer. Manuel’s breakthrough year in her career was 2016. Prior to that, many of the fans had never seen her. There were no real expectations or demands that Manuel needed to fulfill at the 2016 Olympics.
However, the American swimmer shocked the world in 2016. Manuel became the first ‘black’ woman in the US to win a gold medal at an individual swimming event at the Olympics. In fact, nobody from the US had ever won the women’s 100-meter freestyle, since 1984.

In a recent exclusive collaboration with Togethxr, Simone Manuel opened up about her emotional and extremely hard journey to the top. Togethxr posted a small clip of that documentary on Instagram. USWNT star, Alex Morgan, also shared her appreciation and feelings about the same on an Instagram story. Alex Morgan reposted the video and wrote, “@swimone IS SPECIAL. FACT.”
The USWNT soccer star could totally relate to Manuel’s journey to the top. Getting past racial abuse and criticism from a very young age is not the easiest for many. However, Manuel proved everyone wrong and most importantly made no one, but herself proud.
Simone Manuel discusses her tough childhood
Manuel faced racial abuse from a very young age. The American swimmer pro told Togethxr, “I think I knew pretty early on that there weren’t many people that looked like me in the sport. I do vividly remember being five years old and I was playing with a little white boy and I remember him telling me that he hated me because I was black.”
She opened up about bottling up her emotions and keeping to herself most of the time. Manuel said, “I don’t actually think I said anything to my parents. I don’t know why I held on to it in a means of not telling them right away. I think its kind of the same with some of the things I deal with today.”

Simone Manuel has now become a role model for every young and aspiring female athlete out there. The urge to keep moving forward and never give up is what has brought Simone Manuel to this stage today.
