Last night’s match between Inter Miami and Colorado Rapids saw an interesting incident transpire. A young girl managed to invade the pitch in the middle of the match to fulfill her lifelong dream of greeting Lionel Messi and snapping a selfie with the soccer icon. Though many perceived her as a typical fan, it soon emerged that the teenage intruder not only has an interesting connection with La Puga’s wife but is also a soccer player herself.

Antonella Siegert became an overnight sensation after she took the risk of a lifetime to breach security at Chase Stadium yesterday. The interesting connection she shares with Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, is that both have similar names. After her encounter with the Argentinian superstar, she posted a POV video on her Instagram account, named ‘@antonella.soccer,’ boasting over 7259 followers, along with a very long caption. “Without a doubt the best day of my life! The day I could fulfill my dream, the day where many things happened so that everything could be achieved….” she wrote. 

While narrating her experience, Siegert revealed that she had to jump almost 4 meters to get past the boundary of the stands. Yet, the efforts paid off, as she was able to run with all her energy to meet her idol. Acknowledging it as the ‘best seconds’ of her life, she concluded, “Thank you @leomessi for being so humble and agreeing to make this moment come true!” 

Notably, Siegert hails from Colombia. However, residing in the US, she plays as a striker for Nona FC’s 2011 category. The starlet has even represented her side in the Easter Cup as well as in the USL academy. Interestingly, Messi himself helped escape Siegert.

As Antonella Siegert narrated her experience of meeting her favorite star in the clip, Lionel Messi was overheard saying, “Run, run quickly, before security catches you.” Unfortunately, it was too late for young Siegert as 5-6 guards alongside the Inter Miami star’s renowned bodyguard, Yassine Cheuko, came to apprehend her. Yet, the viral video showcased Messi saving the young girl from security. 

Perhaps he wanted Siegert to be escorted without any chaos or getting hurt. Even though the Herons had thrown away their lead with the Rapids leveling the match 2-2, Messi, who had the pressure to restore his side’s lead, managed to carve out time for the fan’s special moment. In fact, telling her to escape showcases how much the supporters mean to him. Either way, it goes down as quite a historic moment in Siegert’s life.
