There is a new controversy at stake in the Premier League. As many of you might be aware, renowned referee David Coote has been suspended by Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) after a shocking report emerged that the official had used foul language for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool. This compels us to dig deeper into past controversial moments that suggest Coote may have been partial against the Reds.
It all begins with a video that has been making strides on the internet, where David can be seen making derogatory comments regarding Liverpool and their former iconic manager, who left Anfield after the end of the 2023/24 season. So far, the video isn’t being claimed legit but it clearly showcases Coote saying “s**t” to Liverpool, while also calling Klopp a “German c**t” and “f***ing arrogant.”
The statement from PGMOL said, “David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation. PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete.”

Notably, the widely circulated minute-long video showcases Coote narrating an old incident with Liverpool and their manager. To be precise, it was the Reds game against Burnley around July 2020, during the lockdown period. Klopp’s side had already been crowned champions but were apparently targeting the 100-point mark.
However, the game ended in a 1-1 draw against Burnley, as Jay Rodriguez’s equalizer denied Andy Robertson’s opener. In the aftermath, Klopp exchanged words with Coote and other officials over a few instances on the pitch. In fact, during the post-match presser, the German tactician also claimed that the referee neglected to call fouls for challenges made against Liverpool players.
