Al Ittihad secured Jota, the Celtic forward, with a record $31 million agreement, signaling a pivotal role in Nuno Santos’s strategic vision for the club. However, he made just give appearances as a substitute across as many games. He has managed to score just one goal for his recently signed club. On this note, Jota’s time on Arabian soil could be short-lived after his ineligibility to participate in the Saudi Pro League.

Consequently, the ex-Benfica star remained unregistered for the domestic fixture, emphasizing their priorities in the squad. Jota could only participate in the AFC Champions League and the Club World Cup.

The Portuguese international has no interest in waiting until the winter transfer window after a frustrating turn of events. Transfer expert Ekrem Konur claimed that “Al Ittihad have started negotiations to terminate Jota’s contract.” The reigning champions could terminate the ex-Celtic star’s contract as an optimal resolution for both the club and the player. Jota’s sole demand is for his $212k salary to be settled before scraping off his three-year contract. Meanwhile, the Portuguese might have limited alternatives after parting ways with Al Ittihad.
