Manchester City has just won the FIFA Club World Cup. Despite not reaching their usually abnormally high standards in the Premier League, Pep Guardiola’s side was ruthless in the tournament. This also marked the English club’s first-ever CWC victory. Yet, there does not seem to be much buzz regarding City’s achievement. To be precise, many people are not even aware that the CWC took place. This seems to have perplexed Phil Foden. It seems like the Englishman doesn’t want the team’s work to go unnoticed.
Foden & Co beat Brazilian side Fluminense 4-0 in the final to lift the trophy. It was a typical dominant performance from Man City and one that highlighted why they dominated English soccer for the last decade. Perhaps, they are underrated considering their achievements.

Phil Foden is of the opinion that Man City’s CWC win has gone slightly unnoticed. He said, “I don’t think there’s enough credit for #ManCity. This is unbelievably hard and so demanding, games every three days.” The England international does have a point regarding the player schedule. Man City already lost star players Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland due to injury this season. However, the end result is satisfying as per the attacker.
Phil Foden: “I don't think there's enough credit [for #ManCity]. This is unbelievably hard and so demanding, games every three days. Of all that effort, to say we’ve done this, is so good. Our first time able to win one [#ClubWC], and we have to make sure it's not the last…”

Foden added, “Of all that effort, to say we’ve done this, is so good. Our first time able to win one ClubWC, and we have to make sure it’s not the last”. Considering that the Sky Blues have overcome the psychological factor of not winning a European trophy, it seems Foden wants the club to kick on and achieve much bigger success.
Foden further added, “I wanted to win this because not only is it obviously a big competition for the club, but I thought it would give us the little boost going back into the season.” As Man City look set to gear up for the second half of the season, Guardiola & Co would be counting themselves lucky. After all, their midfield lynchpin narrowly escaped a potentially devastating injury in the CWC final.

Rodri said, “I was very lucky today, to be honest. It was one of the worst tackles they did in my career. It was so scary because I felt my knee. Fortunately, it was nothing, and I told the player, ‘You cannot do these kinds of actions.” Rodri previously missed 3 games due to a red card and City lost all of those games. Luckily, they won’t have to deal with his absence this time around.
