Manchester United are on a bad run of form. The Red Devils have lost 3 of their last 6 home matches, and are displaying worrying signs on the pitch. Erik ten Haag is not only facing a tough time on the pitch but also having to cope with player injuries and man-management issues. Looking at the state of the club, players earlier shockingly refused to take up the prestigious role of captain.

Recapping the words of ex-Manchester United manager on The Athletic podcast, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, host Ian Irving pointed out, “Where are the leaders in this team? Where are the captains? And it is easy for us to say that Ole Gunnar told us last month two players refused to be Manchester United captain when they were offered the captaincy.”

Irving further discusses how it could go from bad to worse for the English club if they drop out of the Champions League in the group stage itself. The supporters are backing the team with all their might, but find it harder as the season continues to fall apart. With relatively easier fixtures in November, the Red Devils can try to regain their form and confidence before facing Newcastle United and Chelsea in December.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe sees issues as he eyes 25% of the club’s stake

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is eyeing a 25% stake in the club after Qatar’s unsuccessful attempts. During his visit to Old Trafford, he voiced concerns about the club’s operations. He criticized Manchester United’s transfer policy, particularly the signing of 30-year-old Casemiro from Real Madrid.

Ratcliffe questioned the club’s focus on short-term managerial changes over long-term sporting projects. He highlighted the eye-popping four-year deal with Casemiro, who commands weekly wages of $427,000. This potential raised changes in the roles of Richard Arnold and John Murtough, responsible for recruitment, as Ratcliffe’s different views may impact player recruitment at the club.
