Currently on their preseason tour in the US, Wrexham just faced Philadelphia Union II. The third-oldest professional soccer team has had quite a preseason. After a humbling loss to Chelsea and an enthralling win against Manchester United, the Red Dragons were sure to have gained priceless experience. Currently, out with an injury, super striker Paul Mullin missed the final fixture in the US.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw, but the fans and the players witnessed something unusual today. The second half of the game only resumed after over two hours due to severe lightning and rain. The game ended with the same scoreline after both teams couldn’t impact the scoresheet further.

Nothing really noteworthy took place after that, until minutes before the halftime whistle. That’s exactly when both sides scored their goals. Wrexham’s Tom O’Connor opened the Welsh soccer club’s account. Union’s Jeremy Rafanello equalized in no time.

The players headed into the tunnel for the halftime break. They didn’t return to the turf for the next two hours due to bad weather. Neither team managed to score a goal in the second half. The game ended with a 1-1 scoreline. Here’s how the fans reacted.

While they look forward to replicating their success from last season, the attacking department has surely taken a hit after Paul Mullin’s sudden and unfortunate injury.
