Trinity Rodman is undeniably the future of the USWNT. Despite the 21-year-old attacker failing to make an impact at the FIFA World Cup this year, she has been a consistent player in the NWSL. From her frightening pace to exceptional close control and a penchant for goal-scoring, the daughter of the legendary Dennis Rodman has always been a force to reckon with for the Washington Spirit.
An example of this was witnessed last night when Washington squared off against Chicago Red Stars where Trinity displayed an excellent piece of skill that has been all over the social media ever since. Interestingly, this news comes two days after Dennis Rodman was in the news for tattooing his girlfriend Yella Yella’s face on his butt.

Last night, the Washington Spirit drew 1-1 with the Chicago Red Stars. While the scoreline suggests a boring deadlock, the match was anything but that. Despite the Washington-based side dominating in possession and shots, the Red Stars drew first blood in only their second shot of the match. However things soon changed when Trinity tapped into her Rodman genes to unleash her deadly pace and skills on her opponents.
Soon Trinity Rodman led the charge as she led the attack in full force to equalize. In one such sequence, the 21-year-old starlet performed an immaculate reverse nutmeg and then used her body feint to evade two markers in one single sequence. The clip of this skillset by Rodman has gone viral ever since.

While the skill move didn’t lead to a goal, the team kept on attacking relentlessly. These tireless efforts bore fruit in the 90th minute as the Spirit won a penalty in the penultimate of the stoppage time. Striker Ashley Hatch took the penalty and buried the ball in the back of the net with absolute conviction.

Apart from the skills and last-minute equalizer, the key takeaway of this match was the fact that Washington Spirit women were able to maintain pretty much the same intensity throughout the 90. Credit for this goes to their co-owner Y Michele Kang who has invested a lot to improve her team’s training methods.
Washington Spirit ownership deserves credit
Washington Spirit co-owner Y Michele Kang spoke to The Post about investing in customized training modules for female soccer players. Women’s physiology and biological wireframes are different as per the Korean entrepreneur. Hence their training module cannot be the same as men. They need to be customized. And hence the Washington Spirit has invested in coming up with scientific training manuals for women.

Michele Kang says the Spirit's pursuit of a "70 acre" training center are on course, & didn't close the door on that facility being on the grounds of the RFK Stadium site

“We don’t feel that women are small men,” commented Kang on the insufficient amount of research dedicated to women’s sports. “Ok, we are not going to borrow a manual from the men’s soccer team. We want to understand women’s physiology and biology and train our athletes according to that.” Thankfully, her efforts have paved in as the Spirit looks like one of the fittest sides in the NWSL today.
