In a surprising turn of events, Al Ettifaq’s Ahmed Al-Ghamdi had to be rushed to a local medical facility following his team’s 3-1 defeat to Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al Nassr. The player was taken out of the game just four minutes into play as he suffered a blow to his head. While the team’s medics attended to the player, it seems the player has now been transferred to the nearest hospital.

Ahmed Al-Ghamdi clashed with Al Nassr’s Alawjami in the opening minute of the game, prompting medical staff from both sides to treat the players. The twenty-two-year-old took the brunt of the hit, as he had to be taken out of the game. The quick change had a big effect on Steven Gerrard’s tactics with his side suffering a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Cristiano’s Al Nassr.

A prominent Saudi Arabian journalist shared the clip on X where Al Ettifaq’s medical staff could be seen taking Ahmed Al-Ghamdi out on a stretcher. The team is yet to issue a statement on his injury and is likely to wait for a confirmation from the hospital before making anything official.

The player’s substitution had a big effect on the game with Al Ettifaq forced to change their players at the very start. The side, however, managed to contain Al-Nassr for most of the first half before Alex Telles provided his side with the opening goal just minutes before the end of the first half.

Cristiano and his side will surely be happy with the win. The side now has forty points to their name from 17 games and will look to get a win in their upcoming game to close the gap with table-toppers, Al Hilal.

Cristiano Ronaldo leads from the front as Al Nassr rout past Al Ettifaq

While both sides seemed to struggle to find the opening goal, it was Alex Telles who scored an absolute screamer from outside the box in the dying minutes of the first half to open the scoresheet. Al Nassr made most of the opportunities in the second half with Marcelo Brozovic finding the back of the net thanks to a pin-point assist from Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese star did not take too long before finding his name on the scoresheet as he converted a penalty in the 73rd minute to take his team up by three goals. While Al Kuwaykibi did managed to pull a goal back for Al Ettifaq, it was too late for his side with Al Nassr walking back to the dugout with the three points from the game.
