The outing against Al Ain turned out to be a bitter pill to swallow for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Al Nassr skipper put on one of the roughest performances of 2024 as he failed to help his side get over the line in the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League. Al Nassr, despite trailing on aggregate heading into the game, dragged the game to penalties. However, Cristiano’s teammates failed to hold their nerves, with Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles, and Otavio missing their respective penalties.

While Cristiano converted from the spot, his performance up top was below par by any standards. The player failed to find the back of the net from regular play despite taking 12 shots, including one from just 2 yards away from the post. Fans were less than pleased with his performance as they took to social media to react to the Portuguese star’s abysmal performance.

It seems like Cristiano Ronaldo can understand the emotion behind fans’ outrage with the player taking to Instagram to react to his team’s defeat against Al Ain. Cristiano posted an image of himself alongside his Al Nassr teammates on Instagram with the caption, “Thank you for your support. We’ll find a way to bounce back and come back stronger! Together, always! 🙌.”

The ongoing season could be in the dumps for Cristiano Ronaldo following Al Nassr’s exit from the AFC Champions League. The tournament seemed like the team’s only chance to get their hands around a major silverware, with the side currently 12 points behind Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League standings. Cristiano, who has been Al Nassr’s rock this season, was nowhere near his best last night, with the player missing massive chances to help his side punch their ticket to the semifinals.

The Al Nassr skipper played all 120 minutes on the pitch and found the back of the net just once, that too from a spot kick. Cristiano Ronaldo took 13 shots throughout the game while creating just three chances for his side. The player had a 50% shot accuracy, keeping just half of his shots on target. Meanwhile, his performance inside the box wasn’t impressive, with the player producing just six passes in the final third. Another issue with Cristiano was his work with the ball, as the player was disposed of on 5 occasions.
