Is Trinity Rodman the future face of women's soccer, or is there someone else in the running?

Every young player dreams of making it to the big stage with a sea of spectators watching them. The once-in-a-lifetime chance to leave a mark and become a fan favorite and Trinity Rodman didn’t hesitate to grab it. From being the youngest draftee in NWSL history to becoming U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year, the Washington Spirit forward has done it all! Though she did have butterflies in her stomach, for the very first time, she stepped foot on ‘Audi Field’, a soccer-specific stadium in the Buzzard Point neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Moreover, the home to her team, Spirit.

The Ballon d’Or nominee took a trip down memory lane in a touching sponsorship post with Google Pixel. Rodman reflects on her dream debut back on April 10, 2021. As the youngest draftee, the whole world was on her shoulders but within just five minutes of being subbed on, she scored. Ever since then, she has enjoyed her time at Audi Field and is on course to win her second league title this season. 

The first time I stepped out on Audi Field was a blackout moment for sure. I couldn’t believe it was my home and that the people filling the stands were all there to watch me and the team.” Rodman captioned the post. Audi Field is more than just a pitch or a venue for her, and she didn’t shy away from calling it the ‘best place ever’.

Rodman adds that the fan reactions bring a lot of energy to the game. For her, it’s an experience that she looks forward to reliving every time she steps foot on the pitch. And it’s clear to say, she is adored by her fans, who filled the comment section of her post with well-wishes. 

Fans flood Rodman’s comments with love and support 

Seeing Rodman’s heartfelt words for the team resonated deeply with fans. One fan commented that it was “a great day to be a supporter of both Trinity Rodman and Google Pixel“. The multi-billion-dollar company frequently collaborates with players, offering fans a glimpse into their lives, something that is being well received.

The 22-year-old is among the favorites to win NWSL MVP of the year. And that’s a testament to her talent. A comment read, “You are a magic player, Lady” and that she is indeed!

This season Trinity Rodman scored 8 goals and 6 assists for Washington Spirit who will either play Orlando Pride or KC Current in the finals. “You make the magic happen on the field, watching you play gets me hype! 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾,” wrote another supporter. And she also said fans’ reactions are a huge part of why she loves trying out new tricks and moves like the ‘Trin-Spin‘.

Meanwhile, a user, in particular, made an interesting comment, asking the forward to explore a new territory- “Trinity to come to Arsenal 🔴⚪“. Well, chances of that happening seem unlikely as she is one of the highest-paid players in the league. Yet, this fan’s got a point as Arsenal women, under their interim manager Renee Slegers, are acing it in the Women’s Super League!

As Trinity and Co. gear up for the finals, only time will tell if she’ll secure another NWSL title and claim her first NWSL MVP award. Regardless of the outcome, fans will continue to chant her name every time she steps foot on Audi Field.
