Is the Washington Spirit boss too dismissive of Trinity Rodman's injury, or is it justified optimism?

The Washington Spirit had a tough pill to swallow on Friday evening as their top player, Trinity Rodman, exited in a wheelchair in their match against the Kansas City Current. In the 75th minute, Rodman shielded the ball from Current player Temwa Chawinga and went to the ground. Medical staff rushed onto the field to provide treatment, but Rodman couldn’t continue, and the team took him to the locker room.

Rodman’s agent, Mike Senkowski, informed the Washington Post on Saturday that she experienced an ‘intense back spasm.’ As for defender Casey Krueger, her adductor injury was also considered a minor one from Giraldez. Washington Spirit fans have been eagerly awaiting news on Trinity Rodman’s recovery. However, manager Jonatan Giraldez has an update. Let’s find out.

In the most recent episode named ‘Futbol W: Play-off Battle at the Top of the Table’ on the Futbol Americas podcast, Jonatan Giráldez said that Trinity has been consistently practicing and heading in the right direction with her injury rehab. But he didn’t set a specific timeline for her return to the field.

Trinity, I was speaking to her last game. She is training, step by step, doing things with the team. I do not want to say anything for the next weekend because I don’t want to add any type of pressure.

Giraldez also said, “For me, the most important thing is being available, but 100% available. If you’re available but 60%, for me, it’s not enough, so you have to be 100%. Because you know, here play-offs are very-very important, so everyone must be ready and available as soon as possible.”

Giraldez’s demand that Rodman be completely healthy before on the field again demonstrates a change in the way clubs handle player management. Giraldez prioritizes Rodman’s complete recuperation because he is worried about the long-term well-being of his top player. Fans will probably be happy with this choice. Do you know about Rodman’s latest achievement of being named NWSL’s Best XI of the Month, sponsored by Amazon Prime?
