After achieving promotion last year in the National League, Wrexham AFC currently sits 3rd in EFL League Two. Ryan Reynolds’ side employs an attacking brand of soccer that has seen them rack up 32 goals in the league. While their defensive game has room for improvement, their attacking players enjoy an excellent reputation as teams are scurrying to make them their top targets. The latest inquiry is from Tom Brady’s Birmingham City, who is considering an approach for a talented Wrexham player who keeps the fans on the edge of their seats!

Expectations were high when the NFL legend acquired a minority stake in Birmingham. Described by coach Wayne Rooney as ‘ambitious’, Brady is said to be fully committed to recruiting the most promising talents. Thus, his latest move solidifies his intentions for the club.

Birmingham City is not enjoying a fine season, as they sit 15th in the championship. Their last match was a lucky draw against Ipswich Town because of an own goal. With fewer goals scored (18) than conceded (19), they are struggling to find the back of the net. However, the situation suggests Wayne Rooney & Co have identified the appropriate solution to their attacking woes, with Elliott Lee of Wrexham AFC as a top target.

The former West Ham United player is a seasoned veteran with more than 240 plus games of experience. This season, the English forward has been a goal-scoring machine with ten strikes in the league. Lee is a two-footed attacker, comfortable playing in attacking midfield, left-wing, and center-forward positions.

His versatility, coupled with his impressive shooting ability (53% shot accuracy), makes him a compelling package; one that seems to have caught the eye of Birmingham City.

However, Eliott Lee is a vital member of Wrexham and one who loves being a Red Dragon. The soccer player has been a fan favorite since his debut, where he scored twice to script a famous comeback victory. Wrexham might not be willing to part ways with their star attacker, but everything in soccer has a price. Perhaps he could be the player to bring Wayne Rooney’s vision to reality.

Can Wayne Rooney turn the fortunes around?

It’s barely been a month since Wayne Rooney has assumed coaching responsibilities. His first game was a loss against Middlesbrough, while his first home game ended in a defeat against Hull City that resulted in huge boos. Things couldn’t have gone worse for Rooney for his fresh start with Brady and Co. Yet, the words of a club stalwart point to an encouraging future ahead for the English veteran.

Former club captain Ian Clarkson told ESPN, “Birmingham are basically what Manchester City were before their takeover — a big club in the shadow of more successful neighbours, with a fanbase that is desperate for success”. Manchester City’s trajectory changed following Sheikh Mansour’s takeover, with Pep Guardiola’s appointment being ‘the key moment’ in their history.

Could Wayne Rooney and Tom Brady inspire a similar change at Birmingham? It is definitely a story worth watching.
