The return to the EFL League Two has been a rollercoaster ride for Wrexham. The club displays inconsistent form but remains 7th in the table. That is a glorious return for a team that continues to draw plaudits for their playing style. On top of the club charts is manager Phil Parkinson, who coaches his team well. But Stockport County handed them a 5-0 thumping to end the Welsh soccer club’s seven-match unbeaten run. Yet, co-owner Rob McElhenney was in high spirits at half-time.

With his side trailing the game by 3-0 at half-time, McElhenney tweeted a pep-talk for the fans at half-time. But after that, the team lost the match by conceding two more goals in the second half. In short, things went south for the Welsh club.

The side came into the match after winning three league games on the trot. They have entertained their fans with chaos as they scored 20 goals and conceded 20 in just nine games. Hence, with his side trailing at half-time, Rob McElhenney wanted fans to remain in the stadium until the game was done. He tweeted on X, “Phil’s enthusiasm in the locker room will be off the charts. But never, ever leave a Wrexham game. Come on you reds!”

The team produced a sensational comeback earlier during their game against Swindon Town. Wrexham trailed 5-3 in the match but soon provided a stunning response to score two stoppage-time goals. Hence, the determination of the club is through the roof. Yet, Stockport County’s Isaac Olaofe had other plans.

The striker scored a hat trick to shock the team. Goals from Louie Barry and Paddy Madden took the scoreline to 5-0 at the end of the 90 minutes. Although there is no cause for concern, this defeat hit them hard, and the team could rally back to regain their confidence. Paul Mullin would need to start firing for the team to get their goals. Otherwise, the club is in danger of losing its momentum.

Phil Parkinson analyzes the shocking loss!

In the aftermath of the match, Parkinson analyzed the game after the loss. He stated“It’s as bad a first half as I can remember us playing in terms of all the fundamentals in football. They were sharper and quicker than us. So many times we gave the ball away cheaply in the back third and middle third and put ourselves under pressure. Today we were sloppy in everything we did and we’ve got to take our medicine today”, as compiled by BBC.

Wrexham will need to drastically improve to get back-to-back promotions at the end of the season. Their rivals, who finished second in the National League, Notts County, lead the table with 20 points. To see both these clubs getting back-to-back promotions will be a story to remember!
