The signing of Karim Benzema for Al Ittihad was compared to the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo by Al Nassr. The French striker also started his career with the Saudi giants brilliantly. However, over time, the form and relationship between the player and the club is growing worse. Now, amid the rumors, he is attracting interest from MLS and Europe.

It will now be on Al Ittihad to decide whether they would like to sell their star striker in the middle of the season. The Saudi giants are also aware of the investment they have made in the French forward.

Out-of-form Karim Benzema has plenty of options outside of Al Ittihad

One of them who joined the cash-rich league was Karim Benzema on a free transfer. The French striker started playing brilliantly under Nuno Espirito Santo. However, the relationship soon turned sour. The manager was also sacked. But the form of the team has failed to improve. This has led to trolling against Karim Benzema. Now, amid the trolling, he has been linked to an exit. According to Ekrem Konur, MLS clubs and European clubs have a keen interest in signing him.

The poor results in the recent matches have played a key role in the nightmare relationship between the fans and Benzema. It started with the FIFA Club World Cup. In the second round against Egyptian giants Al-Ahly, he missed a penalty. After that, a 3-1 loss to Al-Raed. But the biggest one was when they were recently defeated 5-2 by Al Nassr. This led to fans sending abusive messages to the French striker. It also led to him deactivating his Instagram account.

Al Ittihad will hope that Karim Benzema can score and lead the team until he is there. However, the French striker has reportedly listed some of his conditions to continue his stay in Saudi Arabia.

Al Ittihad are currently seventh in the Saudi Pro League table. The results under the new manager, Marcelo Gallardo, have not improved. This has also led to an uproar from the fans to improve the team. The 36-year-old forward also wants to see the team improve. According to reports in Saudi Arabian media, Benzema has urged the ownership to sign new players.

He has also threatened the team management and owners that failure to sign new players will see him not return after the break. Karim Benzema showed a teaser of that by missing the training session after the loss to Al Nassr.
