To help the club’s chances for automatic promotion, Reynolds signed two players in quick succession. Billy Waters from Barrow AFC was the first signing. Waters will act as a backup option for the mighty Paul Mullin. Wrexham has been very dependent on Mullin for goals, Reynolds recognized the need for cover in the striker’s department and immediately covered it.
Reynolds and McElhenney then shocked the world after convincing Ben Foster to come out of retirement. Wrexham had to urgently find another goalkeeper after Rob Lainton suffered a knee ligament injury. Reynolds’ Hollywood dream of getting his soccer side into the English Premier League can hugely leap forward if Wrexham manages to secure promotion to the EFL League Two this season.
